Is this function still available on the new site? I'm not seeing how to SEND new private messages. Clicking on the control panel just shows the ones I sent and received before the changeover. Any suggestions/help welcomed! Thanks.

Yes, you can still send private messages.
Go to a person's profile, then click "contact info", then click "Send a private message to (username)".
If a user doesn't accept PM's, then you can't send them one. You can leave a visitor message if you want. But just to let you know, anyone can see a visitor message.

Thanks, Brandon. I knew the visitor messages were public. I'd like to modify my profile settings to accept PMs, but don't see how to do that, nor do I see a PM option under contact info on any of my friend's profiles. Have I not looked far enough yet?

Go to: http://www.saggerworld.com/community/profile.php?do=editoptions then scroll down until you see the "Private Messaging" box. Edit your settings and when you are done, go to the bottom and click "Save Changes". It will bring you to a different page, that means everything is okay.

Ummmm. . .did that, and here's what I see: boxes labeled "login and privacy," "messaging and notification," (no mention of pm here); "thread display," "date/time," "miscellaneous." The PM box in the control panel column (left side of my screen) lists only received and sent items; clicking on it offers no option to send/receive. Since my account was established before the changeover, would I need to create a new account or otherwise modify the existing one? I'm pretty puzzled over this!

Hey BigMike n CWolf (and for the info of all):
I find "enable PM" in 2 places:
In CP under
SETTINGS AND OPTIONS
- Edit Options
- Third Box Down - "Private Messaging"
- Click first Box - "Enable Private Messaging"
(Note other available PM options)
The display under CP/Private Messaging is as BigMike mentioned earlier in the thread.
ANOTHER, EASIER OPTION I STUMBLED ON TODAY:
Click on "Quick Links" at the top of this page
From the drop down menu, under "User Control Panel" click on "Edit Options" and proceed as above under edit options.
It's no big trick once u no wot 2 do!!
