To each his own. If you don't like drugs, don't do drugs. And if you don't like cigarettes, don't smoke them. While you may not "get" smoking, I don't "get" drugs like cocaine or even pot. Seen way too many friends lose everything to drugs. Have I seen people lose their lives from smoking - yes - but from 40 years of smoking.

I don't get smoking or drugs, there is just nothing "cool" about that. Not to mention it stinks.
And yes people don't die for smoking once, but for smoking too much - but they all started by smoking once, and something like 80-90% of people who started will keep addict to it all their lives.

My dad, smoked for 35 years (ish), had a heart attack in his mid 50s and stopped right away. Both cases though are medical.
Willpower!!
Why are so anti-smoking. Well as said, that person stinks, the room stinks, etc etc

Wow okay yeah thats what we're saying: smokers are bad people. BullS***. I don't get why smokers are being all victims here, it was their choice to get started, and what the anti-smoking people here are saying is two-fold. 1) why the heck would you start. Sure you're friends smoke, and that isn't a reason to smoke. Like (this is so cliché) if you're friends all jumped off a bridge would you do it? Not an excuse. And 2) we're pointing out that when you get older you stink lol, and that it isn't impossible to quit, you just have to do it right.
And DCsagger, my point is that in cocaine you get a high, there's a large reward for the risk that is taken on. The risk adjusted reward is awful for smoking, especially when you get EXACTLY the same effects from about a thousand different things. Sure people don't die from a smoking overdose, but guess what? Lung cancer and throat cancer etc get you eventually, sometime in that 40 years,

Yes, i had a choice but at that age you don't realise the consequences until you've grown up. I'm only 24 so i've still got time to quit if i choose to.....AGAIN

Growing up i watched the heartbreak and self-destruction drugs caused me older bro. He eventually went to prison and checked into a clinic to get himself clean. I remember my mum regularly cryin her eyes out cuz his behaviour was way outta control. Now, he is healthy and settled down with a beautiful family. Goes to show you can turn your whole life around. Guidance and sometimes tough love does that.

Thanks to the new smoking laws in Belgium I can easily keep on lving on 10 cigarets a month. That's still not healthy, but I can live with that.
