  1. Something less serious: My French horn teacher used to smoke really heavily, like almost 15-18 cigarettes a day. He never switched to rolling cigarettes on his own, thus he spent about 130€ per month on smoking (5€/pack of 20 cigarettes). He had to stop smoking due to some complicated desseases he suffers from - literally overnight. For about one month you could really see how much he suffered from being forbidden to smoke.

So a question to the smokers on here: How much do you spend on cigarettes per month? And how much is pack of 20 cigs in your country? What about politicians' attitude towards smoking, i.e. taxes on tobacco?

P.S. This is a really interesting discussion, not only because of people's arguments, but more because of how we react on each other. We have clearly come to a controversial topic that makes almost everyone very opinionated. And for emphasis: I'm not judging a single smoker on this site. How could I? I barely know them. In my previous post I have outlined some general observations I have made concerning smokers, not meant to offend any one here. As long as a smoker respects my needs as a non-smoker, there's no reason to despise him

  2. I know loads of smokers, but I can get along with very few of them, namely those who know the meaning of the words "(to) harm", "(to) hurt" or "tolerance". They know that their second hand smoke is seriously damages the health of those who are forced to inhale it.

And then there is a second group of smokers, claiming that they "aren't hurting anyone" and that their "human rights" are violated. Thats such a weak and irrational excuse, it really makes me laugh whenever I hear it Just today I have been called "intolerant bastard" for kindly requesting some smokers to move to the designated smoker area. I'm fed up with those people who want my tolerance towards their intolerant behaviour.

In my opinion, smoking in public should be prohibited. It's really a shame that I, as a non smoker, am forced to leave a public space if a smoker decides to make use of his "human right" to harm my health.

Please don't try to contradict me comparing smokers with sources of other harmful substances in the atmosphere, like cars or power plants. Smoking is something that has no practical use and, in contrast to e.g. driving a car, could be easily omitted.

    P.S: People told me I'm some kind of a "militant non-smoker" :D

  3. Opera houses were magnets for gays, of course.

I really can confirm this. it's so annoying to have these old ugly men constantly staring at you, but there are always some hotties, too. As they are often students with a tight budget, you are most likely to find them around the cheaper seats ;)

compliments for your story-line (even at the very beginning of your story I can feel the growing suspense) and for your style - I know native speakers who couldnt write a text featuring so much idiomatic language.

How do you come to know English so well? Are you just strongly interested in the language or did you spend some time abroad?

  4. I really love shopping, and I seldomly do it alone. There are very few guys I know who I would consider able to judge what I try on, so I mostly ask my female friends if they want to go shopping with me, usually they do :D we usually go by train to a bigger city (by train because we like to have a few drinks in the evening ;))

It's really fun, you always get feedback on what you try on, and it's very inspirational. And there's nothing better than choosing outfits for the girls they actually buy ;)

  5. Funny you mention this i almost forgot about natural gas because I think only 1 or 2 Honda's are natural gas here in the US and that's it lol... but natural gas does look quite promisiing

as fuel is about twice as expensive here in the Germany than in the US, people think much more about alternative technologies. I just made some calculations: in Germany you would pay 7,86$ p. gallon.

  6. 2013 Porsche 991

    2012 Mercedes sls Amg convertable

    2012 Lamborghini aventador

Those are the 3 cars I drive the most I have more though

I suppose you are from a rich family - or did you already earn this bunch of money by yourself?

but honestly, it's fun to drive a sports car, but it's not very suitable for everyday use. driving with a trailer would be totally ridiculous, or just imagine if you have to buy really much to eat and to drink for a party. I wouldn't like to have beverage crates on my leather seats :D I'm sure that you, owning these three cars, can easily afford to buy a more practical one, because usually, they are cheaper ;)

in Germany you're allowed to drive at the age of 17, when somebody more mature accompanies you. so when I turn 18, I'll get the old car of my mother. it's a fiat panda using natural gas, which costs about 1€/kg, and the car consumes about 4,5 kg/100 km. You cannot call it aesthetically appealing, but at least it's quite cheap. you can even attach a ski rack, so I truly got all that I need

  7. I'm just curious: How did you manage to know English (as a foreign language) at such a high level of proficiency? Have you been abroad for some time?

I really agree with all members who posted their opinion so far: Your story is one of the best on here. Without being "18+", it captioned me, because it's so suspenseful, the characters evolve in such a way that we could really all feel the fears, the confusion and the self-doubts of the protagonist....

And what I like most of all: Your story really shows how the persons around us can affect our interior developments. You've done definitely excellent work!
