A mate of mine drives an automatic. He feels more comfortable driving one. I was actually talking to someone about that the other day. Many people hate automatic & prefer the stick shift method. You have more control that way over the feels.
I took my test in a manual but I drive an automatic now. I thoroughly recommend you push through and take your test in a manual as it allows you to drive any car, useful if you go abroad on holiday and need to hire a car.
